American Nurses Association
Commissioned for the American Nurses Associaiton headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, this tripartite mural depicts the past, present, and future of nursing in America. The right side, seen here, is anchored by a portrait of Mary Eliza Mahoney, the first professional African American nurse, while the center features the famous British nurse Florence Nightingale. The central panel depicts various aspects of nursing in the modern era, while the last panel points toward the future of the nursing profession.
