Sustainable Schoolyards Bench
City Arts was commissioned to design a series of three mosaics for the United States Botanic Garden's exhibition One World - Ours, featured in a section on Sustainable Schoolyards. The mosaics were inlaid in a bench designed by local woodworker Rodger Smith that he constructed from found pieces of osage and orange blossom wood. Depicting images of flora and fauna native to the mid-Atlantic region, this collaboration is an example of how 'green' practices and eco-conscious living can be reflected through beautiful, useful, and durable pieces of art.
