United Planning Organization Mural
To commemorate the opening of its headquarters on Rhode Island Avenue, NW, the United Planning Organization commissioned this mural. The artwork depicts many community outreach efforts of the UPO, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Washington, DC citizens by providing community resources, services and partnerships to aid low-income residents. The mural also features scenes of the civil rights movement, and pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Lyndon Johnson. The UPO headquarters, along with two other support buildings, are depicted in the bubbles hovering in front of the archway, which opens onto a view of downtown Washington, DC.
