Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home Mosaics
City Arts is working with residents of the Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home in Washington, DC's Mount Pleasant neighborhood to create a series of mosaics representing the history of this community landmark. City Arts professional artists and student apprentices are working side-by-side with Stoddard residents to create eight 3' x 3' mosaics. Several of the mosaics will be hung on the outside of the building on Newton Street, NW, while others will be placed in a courtyard area so that the residents can see and enjoy their artwork each day. The project began in July 2008 with a public art slideshow for Stoddard residents and staff. This is City Arts' first intergenerational project, funded through an Elders Learning Through the Arts grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
Location: 1818 Newton Street, NW
